Another one of the anime releasing this summer, and one of the best anime to be releasing this season, HoriMiya: The Missing Piece, is the sequel to the hit rom-com anime of the spring of 2021, HoriMiya. It is also many viewers' first romance anime, and probably their favorite too.

Short Episode Summary
Hori and Miyamura in Kyoto

The episode starts with Miyamura and friends on their trip to Kyoto. This episode focuses on Miyamura's one of the most toughest battle; hiding his tattoos.

On their trip, Miyamura, Ishikawa and Shu were to take bath together but Miyamura can't bathe with them, so he asks Ishikawa for help. Ishikawa goes for broke and declares that Miyamura is on his period.

After this Miyamura goes and takes bath in Hori's bathroom, and then they had their cute moment. The scene cuts to school, where Remi inquires Miyamura about why he never takes off cloth in front of others, but Miyamura somehow wards her off. Pool day closing in, and Miyamura can no longer skip pool, and he along with Student Council President, Sengoku, are summoned in staff room by their English teacher.

There, they request their teacher to let them skip pool day, and here we see a series of gold comedy with good deliveries, and this is the reason I like rom-com anime as I do. They somehow manages to make their teacher agree with them skipping, but instead ends up on cleaning duty.

Personal Opinion
HoriMiya's return is probably one of the best returns this season. The episode was superb as it is. We also got reintroduced to the characters and their dynamics. Even though we didn't get much of Hori, we did get lots of Miyamura scenes, which I think is ok as it's only the first episode. I have high hopes for this series like its predecessor. The animation was as good as the writing and the characters. The comedy wasn't forced and it was truly refreshing to see Miyamura and everyone back.
