Finally, the most awaited anime of the most awaited season, who is said to have the potential to become 2023's best anime is finally out now. As expected of MAPPA, the animation is top-notch. Hell's Paradise or Jigokuraku is based on a manga by Yuji Kaku, serialized in Shonen Jump+. Takes place in Japan's Edo period, this anime will follow a group of criminals who were sentenced to death, but instead of killing them, the Shogunate send them on a mission to acquire the Elixir of Life. Let's find out if this anime has any potential or is it just all talk!

Our Protagonist
Gabimaru, also known as Hollow, is a skilled shinobi hailing from Iwagakure (it literally translates to Village Hidden in Stone). He was nicknamed so because he showed no emotion. He has killed a lot of people and now just don't wanna live... or so he says.
But, he is just lying to himself, in fact he is not even emotion less as everyone deem him to be. He is actually a very caring person, and he cares so much for his wife (yes he is married) that he is even willing to risk his life. He is on a death row now, and that is also partially because he cared for his wife.
The Executioner
Another one of the main cast, Sagiri Yamada the female samurai, from the clan of executioners. She is a baddy,
and although we didn't see much of her character and background in the first episode, she is sure to serve as a main character later on in the series.
Personal Opinions
First episode was perfect, viewers can get a grasp of what is happening and what could possibly happen from this episode. Plot is also not very basic, it's somewhat unique.
I don't know why but (it's my personal opinion) maybe because of the old period, it's giving me vibes of Revenger, which aired last season. But, I hope this series doesn't disappoint like Revenger. Over all, this episode was good, and I hope it becomes even more good as more episodes come out. After all, this series is a part of the Dark Trio, and none of them disappointed the viewer.
