In the world of anime, many watchers watch what is trending or what they've heard of but, most of the time, some good anime with great potential gets skipped on. Some of them may also be regarded as a "hidden gem". They need more recognition than they get. Today, I've listed 6 underrated anime that everyone should give a try.

[This list is not ranked.]

1- Angels of Death (2018)

Japanese Title: Satsuriku no Tenshi
Genre: Psychological Thriller, Mystery, Dark Fantasy

Rating (by admin): 6.7/10

Rachel Gardner doesn’t remember much about her life. She finds herself in the basement of a building, wishing only to die. This is when she comes across a masked murderer named Zack. He promises to kill her if she helps him escape. Soon, they begin ascending the floors of the building. However, as they get higher, they keep meeting new and deranged people.
Mysteriously, all the people seem to be linked to Rachel in some way. She is intrigued by the strange link she has with these twisted people. With each new level they ascend, they face a new boss.

2- High-Rise Invasion (2021-)

Japanese Title: Tenkuu Shinpan
Genre: Mystery, Dark Fantasy, Gore
No of Episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 8.6/10
Studio: Zero-G

Just like any underrated anime, when I first watched it I never thought it would be like what it turned out to be. I thought I might have to drop it but ended up binging it in one day.
On the roof of a high-rise building, a young girl named Yuri witnesses a masked figure split a man’s head open with an axe! It’s not exactly an everyday occurrence for a high schooler, but things only get weirder from there. Yuri soon finds herself in a strange world of skyscrapers with only two options for escape—fight past the mysterious masked figures or leap to her death!

3- WOTAKOI (2018-)

Japanese Title: Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii
Genre: Romance, Comedy
No of Episodes: 11
Rating (by admin): 8.7/10
Studio: A-1 Pictures

One of the best Rom-com anime I've watched so far. This is not your typical highschool romantic-comedy, but instead a grown-up romance. When Narumi Momose gets a new office job, she hopes to keep her otaku nature a secret from her coworkers. That plan flies right out the window when she finds out that she's working with Hirotaka Nifuji, her childhood friend and fellow nerd.
Nifuji knows about her interests but doesn't know that they're a secret, so he ends up exposing her to like-minded people by mistake. Narumi suddenly has friends who share her interests.

4- Yona of the Dawn (2014-)

Japanese Title: Akatsuki no Yona
Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance
No of Episodes: 24
Rating (by admin): 8/10
Studio: Pierrot

This anime is no doubt a hidden gem. It doesn't seem appealing at first but when you get into it, you won't regret.

This anime talks about a girl who went from being the Princess of her Kingdom to an absolute Savage. The show deals with a girl named Yona who was the Princess of her kingdom. However, the King was killed by Tina's childhood crush. And later on, things start to get really messy between him and Yona. Therefore, this fragile and weak princess takes the final bits of courage and leaves the town with her servant Hak

5- Noragami (2014-)

Japanese Title: Noragami, Noragami: Aragoto (2nd season)
Genre: Fantasy, Action, Romance, Comedy
No of Episodes: 12 + 13
Rating (by admin): 9/10
Studio: Bones

When it comes to underrated anime, Noragami is the first name that comes to my mind. It has good fights, good characters, good voice actors, good plot, good protagonist, good comedy, good side characters, good character developments and everything.

Yato is a GOD, a "Delivery God" to be precise. His number is scribbled in various places in red and he takes only 5 yen per job. One day, a girl named Hiyori Iki tries to save Yato from a car accident and ends up getting hit herself. This leads to loosening of Hiyori's soul and due to this she slips out of her body from time-to-time. Hiyori then asks Yato to fix this. They both ended up getting close and helping each other. But this anime is not just a romance anime, it's more than that. You should see it for yourself.

6- Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun (2019-)

Japanese Title: Mairimashita! Iruma-kun
Genre: Demon, Comedy, Isekai
No of Episodes: 23 + 21 + ongoing
Rating (by admin): 8.2/10
Studio: Bandai Namco Animations

This was like my first isekai anime. This is yet another hidden gem which, before it's 3rd season came out, was totally forgotten. I enjoyed every moment of this wonderful anime. It may seem a bit childish to you but if you want a good laugh with some action, then you should check this anime out.

The story follows Iruma Suzuki, a 14-year-old human boy who is sold to a demon by his lazy, selfish and neglectful parents. The demon, known as Sullivan, takes Iruma to the Demon World and officially adopts him as his grandson. He enrolls Iruma in the Babyls School for Demons where he is the headmaster and where Iruma quickly befriends the demons Alice Asmodeus and Clara Valac. However, Sullivan tells Iruma to never reveal that he is human since he will be eaten if anyone finds out. Iruma then vows to blend in during his time in the demon world, although he only stands out because of all the situations and adventures that arise.
