Everyone needs a good laugh in between shonen, fight, mecha, mystery and other usual anime from time to time. And there are indeed some quite good comedy anime that can even cure your depression, you just have to look for it, and this is the right place.
I've brought 6 such anime shows which will surely give you a good dose of laughter that you need. Let's dive into this list without any further ado. [This list is not ranked]
1- Daily Lives of Highschool Boys (2012)
Genre: Highschool, Slice of Life, Comedy
No. of episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 8.8/10
This is a pretty good comedy anime I've watched in a while. Didn't get bored even for a moment and you won't get too.
There isn't one main character in this show but rather a friend group of high school boys. It's a glimpse of their daily lives as they do silly things which we all have done like... wearing your sister's underwear?
2- Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto (2016)
Japanese name: Sakamoto Desu-ga?
Genre: Highschool, Slice of Life, Comedy
No. of episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 7/10
This anime is just on whole another level. It's main character, Sakamoto, is the most predictable yet non-predictable anime character.
To sum up his character, he's perfect at just about everything but will do it in the weirdest way possible. He is so charismatic that he can make anyone fall in love with him, be it bullies or even your mom. The bullies who came to beat him up ended up setting his photo as their phone wallpaper. He can easily steal your girl, actually he won't steal but rather she will willingly go with him.
3- +Tic Elder Sister (2012)
Japanese name: +tic nee-san / plastic nee-san
Genre: Highschool, Slice of Life, Comedy, Gag
No. of episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 8/10
This is an anime for when you just want a laughter for one night and then move on. Twelve 2-minutes episodes packed with lots of laughter.
This show is also good at building up characters at a quick pace, just after half an hour you will feel connected to them. To sum it up, this show doesn't take itself seriously (in a humorous way) and you will realize it too.
4- Asobi Asobase (2018)
Japanese name: Asobi Asobase
Genre: Highschool, Slice of Life, Gag Comedy
No. of episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 8.8/10
Another one of my favorite comedy anime I've ever watched. This show revolves around three very odd female friends, Kasumi, Olivia and Hanako and their daily task of...passing time.
Together, they decided to create the "Pastimers Club" just to play around. The most mundane activity suddenly becomes the perfect plot device to set up a good gag, or leave the girls in a compromising position when the teacher inevitably walks in. Out of three characters, Hanako was my favorite character.
5- Prison School (2016)
Japanese name: Prison School
Genre: Highschool, Ecchi, Sex Comedy
No. of episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 7.9/10
I remembered when I first watched this anime just as a normal high school comedy anime, but ended up finding a hidden gem. This show is filled with lots of fanservice as well.
Five high school students are thrown into prison for one month just because they peeped on some girls showering (attempted to). And, somehow, after getting inside prison they became even more perverted. Fortunately for them, the guards are ladies, but some strict ones at that. This show also discusses some of humanities long burning questions like which one is better- boobs or ass. (the real question)
6- Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious (2019)
Genre: Isekai, Comedy
No. of episodes: 12
Rating (by admin): 7.3/10
Unlike others on the list, this anime is not just a regular SoF comedy anime but isekai also. Despite being more focused on isekai world building, this anime does not lacks when it comes to being funny. Cautious Hero contains many elements of regular modern isekai: Overpowered protagonist, a godess side-chick and a fantasy world. However, unlike your regular isekai, the main character, Seiya, is overly careful, which leads to many silly moments. The Godess, Ristarte, who summoned Seiya is annoyed all the times due to main character's over cautiousness.
